About our Community
Welcome to Ocean Sands South (Sections A, B & C), the best place to own and visit in the Northern Outer Banks! Our vast ocean views, un-crowded beaches and over-sized lots make Ocean Sands South a great place to enjoy the Outer Banks. With close shopping and entertainment, not to mention spectacular, wide beaches, you can not ask for a better location on the Northern Beaches.
Ocean Sands was established in the 1970's. At that time Rt. 12 was a sand road separating Dare County from Currituck County by a gate house. The cul-de-sacs of sections A, B and C were paved in asphalt but led to an unpaved road! Herons, deer, fox and quail occupied the area. The horses roamed freely, but were a rare sight as there was so much uninhabited land.

Ocean Sands Sections A, B and C quickly sold out and Coastland Management went forward with the development of Sections D, E and F, etc. In the process, creating a separate property owners association for these new sections. Property owners in Sections A, B and C were invited to join but few owners were willing to participate. Sections A, B, and C was an established community and property owners felt that their interests and issues varied from the those of the new sections.

Bound by the original Covenants established by Coastland, the property owners from sections A, B, and C created their own association. The Ocean Sands South Property Owners Association or (OSSPOA) is a voluntary organization run by elected members, who represent the interests of our property owners and community. More information about our association is available on our owner's page.
